Clarissa Cutrell - Communications & Social Media Director Favorite Beer: Avery IPA

Clarissa Cutrell has been enamored with the written word since she was a wee tyke of seven and penned her first short story. She hasn't stopped writing since--though she usually opts for a computer over crayons these days--producing everything from news to poetry. Clarissa honed her journalism chops covering the city news beat for a Texas daily. She later carried those skills with her to Thailand , where she did freelance writing, and worked for the Office of International Affairs at Yonok University, producing recruitment materials and newsletters, editing website content, and teaching an English/Mass Media class.
Since returning from abroad, Clarissa has continued freelance writing. She also taught classes in creative writing for two years, and served as Operations Manager for the Naropa Summer Writing Program, the prestigious fiction and poetics program founded and run by Allen Ginsberg and Anne Waldman. In late 2005, Clarissa put her writing skills to use on this new-fangled Internet thing, joining the team of a start-up travel portal, homeandabroad.com. As a content coordinator and editor for the site, she watched it grow into one of Travel+Leisure magazine's top-ranked travel websites.
Clarissa brings to PMG an avid interest in how skilled writing and social media can be a powerful tool in not only engaging and informing end users, but also boosting the website's viability in an increasingly crowded market space.
Education
Clarissa has a B.A. – University Scholars from Baylor University (Magna Cum Laude and Member, Phi Beta Kappa) and a Masters in Creative Writing from the University of Colorado, as well as a TEFL Certificate from Yonok University - Lampang, Thailand. Clarissa resides in Boulder Colorado and has a very cute dog.
