Ahhhh Summer. Time to sip on some sweet iced tea and enjoy the breeze. Go to the garage and pull out all the tables and chairs that have been stored in there all Winter. Get the barbecue clean and invite some friends over for a nice Sunday afternoon in the backyard. Hmm. This cheap plastic chair from Walmart is broken and these old metal hand me down chairs from my wife’s parents are rusting and leaving paint chips on my arm. The faded 50’s upholstery is starting to rip and the next person to sit in it might find themselves covered with a plate of potato salad. Maybe it’s time for some new patio furniture.

So how much does all that new furniture cost? Ahhhhh. Time for some Sunday afternoon business brainstorming with my favorite question. It seems that every time I ask how much something costs, I find out there is an absolutely incredible business going on. All of those tables, chairs, rugs and nicknacky lanterns are apparently starting to add up in price. Of the approximately $78.5 Billion in US furniture sales each year, it is estimated that 11% is outdoor furniture. Well if there is over $8 Billion in outdoor furniture sales happening this summer, I guess I could do what I do best and get a little slice of that sweet lemon meringue pie. I could use the calories.

This year, I’m liking the Zuo Modern outdoor furniture set at ExclusivelyHome.com.
