My Favorite SEO – PPC Tools

Spider Test Tool – Shows the source code of a page, all outbound links and also some common words and phrases.

Google SiteMaps Generator - Free for websites up to 500 pages .xml sitemap generator for you to use!

ISAPI Rewrite – Similar to Apaches mod_rewrite however this one is designed specifically for Microsoft’s Internet Information Server (IIS)

Yahoo! Site Explorer – Find all of your indexed website pages in Yahoo as well as see backlinks.

Google Webmaster Central – access tools that will enable you to diagnose crawling issues and add your Google sitemap and more.

WordTracker - Keyword research tool, this one is free but for long tail generation I suggest you use this tool.

SEOBook Keyword Suggestion Tool - When I need to forecast, segment keywords by category and research a vertical this is my favorite tool. The inventory volumes are respectable concerning their accurateness, easily apply your results to excel and create a massive calculator that can help you project your PPC spend.

Google Traffic Estimator - I still use this to quickly check PPC – CPC’s – helps verify daily budgetary projections.

Symantic Web Tool - Yes this is an easy one, many of you might remember it, it is called a thesaurus. Find semantically related keyword terms.

Google Hot Trends – For you PPC folks out there that are bidding on low CPC keywords to pull in huge volumes of traffic, put down the newspaper looking for what’s hot in newsworthy events and check this out.

Yahoo! Buzz Index- Similar to Google Hot Trends – I like this one for monitoring trend movement has a nice percentage indicator based on time indicators.

KeyCompete - Download competitors keywords and adwords (hee hee)- Yeah we get guerrilla like that!

SpyFu
– Shows competitor rankings and what keywords they are buying, only scrapes Google as far as I know.

Keyword Typo Generatorwww.Tools.SEOBook.com has some great tools, this one is fast and pulls back mega lists. Do not discount typos they still pull in converting traffic!

Backlink Analyzer – Love this, shows whois, IP addresses, segments .edu’s only pulls for Yahoo and MSN but it is a worthy tool. Since Link Harvester uses the Yahoo! API it is limited to 5,000 daily uses per IP address (SEOBOOK.com tool) so if you get an error page come back to it later.

BackLink Watch – Shows the anchor text in the links, also shows link PR (Page Rank) so hunting is pretty fast also shows if there is a no follow in the link and all site OBL’s (Out bound Links).

KeyWordDiscovery.com – This Trellian tool is becoming very popular, the price is good and well worth it for keyword research and long tail term research.

Competitive Research Tools

Compete.com – Lets you see traffic trends of competing websites, demographic information as well as other important predictors.

quantcast.com – I verified on three sites the monthly uniques are pretty close, good tool for competitive intelligence.

Xinu.com – This one is my new favorite – This tool will be very important as the new Google Universal search is being slowly integrated over the next 6 months. Check it out.
